Introducing NoteHero Video Lessons — Built for Studying, Not Just Watching

A good study video should do more than read what is already written on the screen.

You press play. You understand the first few minutes. Then one idea stops making sense.

Normally, that means pausing the video, opening another app, searching Google, asking an AI, going back to the PDF, and eventually trying to find where you left off.

We wanted to build something better.

NoteHero Video Lessons are a new way to learn Ethiopian university freshman courses inside NoteHero — with clear video explanations, Amharic and English teaching, AI beside the lesson, useful learning pop-ups, and a player built for long study sessions.

And most importantly, the lesson itself has to be good.

The lesson has to actually explain

We don't want NoteHero videos to feel like someone reading a PDF out loud.

The person teaching should make the idea easier than it was before you pressed play.

That means breaking difficult concepts down, showing how ideas connect, explaining confusing terms, giving examples when they help, and spending time on the parts students usually struggle with.

We're working with high-performing university students to create these lessons, including students who achieved a 4.0 GPA during their freshman year.

They have already studied these courses, sat through freshman lectures, prepared for the exams and figured out what it takes to do exceptionally well.

Now we're turning that experience into lessons other students can learn from.

Amharic when it helps. English where it matters.

University courses are taught with a lot of English terminology.

And those terms matter. You still need to recognize them in your module, lecture and exam.

But sometimes the fastest way to understand a difficult idea is to have somebody explain it naturally in Amharic.

So NoteHero lessons don't force everything into one language.

A concept can be explained in Amharic and English, while the important academic terminology remains clear.

The point isn't translation for the sake of translation.

The point is understanding the concept without losing the language you need for university.

Stuck? Ask AI without leaving the lesson.

This is where the experience becomes very different from a normal video player.

NoteHero AI sits beside your lesson.

If something doesn't make sense, you don't have to leave the video and start searching somewhere else.

Ask.

“Explain that more simply.”

“Give me another example.”

“What does this term mean?”

“What's the difference between these two concepts?”

“Explain this in Amharic.”

You can get the extra explanation you need and continue learning.

The video teaches the topic.

The AI is there for the moment the topic doesn't click.

Small pop-ups. At the moment they are useful.

Not every piece of information needs another five-minute explanation.

Sometimes you just need a definition.

A reminder.

An important point.

A quick question that makes sure you actually understood what you just watched.

That is why the NoteHero video experience includes learning pop-ups alongside the lesson.

They're there to make the video more useful as a study tool—not to turn your screen into a mess of notifications.

Study at 2 PM or 2 AM.

Some students want a bright, clean interface during the day.

Some are studying in a dorm room long after everyone else has gone to sleep.

The NoteHero lesson experience supports light mode and dark mode, so you can choose the environment that works for you.

It is a small detail until you've been studying for three hours.

Then it isn't.

The video shouldn't be where studying ends.

Understanding a lesson is step one.

Remembering it during an exam is another problem.

That's why we're building video lessons inside NoteHero instead of creating a separate video platform.

After learning a topic, the rest of your study tools are already there: quizzes, Super Notes, flashcards, exam practice and AI study help.

Learn the concept.

Test yourself.

Find what you got wrong.

Review it.

Then move on.

That is the experience we're building.

Who are NoteHero Video Lessons for?

NoteHero Video Lessons are being created for Ethiopian university freshman students studying common freshman courses.

They're especially useful if lectures sometimes move too quickly, PDFs feel difficult to learn from on their own, you understand better when English concepts are also explained in Amharic, or you frequently find yourself leaving a video to search for another explanation.

Instead of giving you another place to watch videos, we're trying to give you a better place to learn from them.

Are the lessons taught in Amharic or English?

Both.

Lessons can combine Amharic explanations with English academic terminology, depending on what makes the topic clearest.

You shouldn't have to choose between understanding the idea and learning the terminology that will appear in your course.

Who teaches the lessons?

We're working with strong students who have already completed the freshman experience successfully, including students who earned a 4.0 freshman GPA.

Grades alone don't automatically make someone a great teacher, so the goal isn't simply to put high-GPA students in front of a microphone.

The goal is to find people who both understand the material and can explain it clearly.

Can I use AI while watching?

Yes.

AI assistance is built into the learning experience so you can ask for explanations, definitions, examples and help with difficult concepts without constantly leaving your lesson.

Why build all of this instead of just uploading videos?

Because another folder full of videos doesn't solve the real problem.

Freshman students already have PDFs, Telegram files, YouTube videos, notes and study material everywhere.

The harder problem is turning all of that into a system that actually helps you learn.

That is what we want NoteHero to become.

Not just somewhere you find material.

Somewhere you understand it.

This is just the beginning.

We're continuing to produce lessons across freshman courses and improve the learning experience around them.

Better explanations.

More courses.

More lessons.

And a tighter connection between what you watch, what you ask AI, what you practice and what you need to know for the exam.

Full video lessons are available through NoteHero Premium.

If you're already using NoteHero, open the app and start exploring the new video learning experience.

If you're about to start freshman year, this is exactly what we're building it for.

Watch less passively. Understand more.
